COURSE OUTLINE
The six week course concentrates on dog control working on lead. The course is designed to be progressive, each week a building block for the next training session so your commitment to attend each session will maximise your results. Also, practice – lots of practice in between. Week 1 and 2 are essential to attend.
Week 1: Introduction address covering communication and training methods. Teaching of commands to sit, look, loose lead walking, drop, beginning of stay and beginning of recall.
Week 2: Revision of week one and elaboration. Beginning the heel, with left about turns and right about turns.
Week 3: Revision of week 1 and 2. Begin group distraction work with heel. Elaborate on stay with distraction work. Focus on recall (dog to dog specifically.)
Week 4: Revision of previous weeks. Elaborate with heel, varying speed, direction and distractions. Elaborate with the stay and enhance.
Week 5: Revision of previous weeks. Teach wait command to recall. Enhance heel and stay further with more varied distractions.
Week 6: Complete revision and exercises. Certificate handout and an address on health with ‘Q’ and ‘A’ by Dr Tony Vigano.
